Millions of JOBS Shed under Obama

Let’s use the BLS.gov reports to see how many JOBS have been shed under Obama just since May 2012. We should have an unemployment rate below 6% based on Obama’s spending of close to $1 trillion and what he said he could get done, therefore the last few months should be indicative of how well Obama’s plan has worked out, right?

September 2012 Newly Unemployed:

September 1 = 367,000

September 8 = 385,000

September 15 = 385,000

September 22 = 359,000 (projected)

Still have 1 week left to report on

Total Newly Unemployed for September 2012 = 1.496 million no longer working!!

August 2012 Jobs Shed

August 4 = 364,000

August 11 = 369,000

August 18 = 374,000

August 25 = 377,000

Total Newly Unemployed for August 2012 = 1.484 million jobs shed

July 2012 Jobs Shed

July 7 = 352,000

July 14 = 388,000

July 21 = 357,000

July 28 = 367,000

Total Newly Unemployed for July 2012 = 1.464 million jobs shed

June 2012 Jobs Shed

June 9 = 389,000

June 16 = 392,000

June 23 = 388,000

June 39 = 376,000

Total Newly Unemployed for June 2012 = 1.545 million jobs shed

May 2012 Jobs Shed

May 5 = 370,000

May 12 = 372,000

May 19 = 373,000

May 26 = 389,000

Total Newly Unemployed for May 2012 = 1.504 million jobs shed

so many flaws in this argument

that 88 million number includes retirees, college students, and high schools as do those monthly unemployment numbers you posted. nice spin, but it doesnt work.

    • specfriggintacular

people who were FORCED to retire early due to poor economy and job issues = 13+ million; but if calling them retirees makes you feel better about the poor job crisis, be my guest!

College students? Why should they not be counted? If they are going to be counted when jobs are added, then they are counted when jobs are lost.

Same with High School students – if they are going to be counted when jobs are added, they too must be counted when jobs are lost.

Monthly unemployment numbers are not fictional, they come straight from the BLS.gov; you know, the head of it is Hilda Solis who was appointed by Barack Obama.

My suggestion would be before you to click on, say May 2012 or September 2012 titles and they will take you to the governments own website.

  • dsjj251

also your jobs shed numbers mean nothing because you do not include jobs gained. You do realize that there is a very large cross over right? all the people that became unemployed did not stay unemployed.

    • specfriggintacular

Jobs gained do not need to be included.

      Why?

Because these MILLIONS of people factually lost their jobs, ergo these numbers mean 100% of everything to the 1.4+ million per month who lost their jobs

Historical levels of people in the past few yrs have in FACT been unemployed for 6 months or longer; ergo, a good portion of these people did stay unemployed for months, some even 1+ yrs.

      • dsjj251

again you keep putting spin in your argument, none of your numbers actually add up.

as i said your numbers would mean there is absolutely no cross over. short term unemployment is actually down,( why you mentioned long term is a mystery to me because it has nothing to do with what we were talking about. ) which even further shows that those people are being rehired, my guess is that those numbers are probably teachers who are fired and rehired every fall by their same school system to keep them from gaining tenor.

You seem to not like Obama(obviously) but you spin numbers instead of laying them out as they truly are.

” College students? Why should they not be counted? If they are going to be counted when jobs are added, then they are counted when jobs are lost. ”

im not talking about your jobs lost number when i mention college students, im talking about your fraudulent 88 million number.

every college kid is not looking for a job, my freshman year, i was trying to adjust to college life with a full course load, work was the farthest thing from my mind. Your 88 million would have added me in that list. The same goes for your retirement comment.

for some reason, you seem to be assuming that every high school kid over 16 and every college student is looking for a job and that every person who has retired in that 88 million did so early because they could not find work. that is an asinine argument and you know it.

again, i know you hate the man but be sensible.

last thing, i dont know how i got subscribed to you, but since I have, you have not posted a single article telling how Mitt Romney will do anything better.

I think you are what democrats and republicans have been talking about the last few weeks when they say Mitt has not shown how he will do better than Obama.

your( you specifically) should be voting FOR mitt, not against Obama. Because imo, what you want to vote against is still 10X better than what you will vote for in Mitt.

Dsjj251- Let’s deduce your “illogical statements”, shall we?

In August 2010, 58.5 percent of working age Americans had jobs.
In August 2012, 58.3 percent of working age Americans had jobs.
      So where is the recovery?

      1. You say, “again you keep putting spin on your argument, none of your numbers actually add up.”
My reply – There cannot be a spin on the numbers because those numbers come straight from the BLS report; a BLS report put together by Hilda Solis, who was appointed by Obama. September 2012 has factually seen over 1.4+ million newly laid off people…that means people without a JOB. My post was about jobs SHED per month….factually ther have been over 1.4 MILLION jobs shed.
For the record: For example, if the labor force participation rate was the same today as it was back when Barack Obama first took office, the unemployment rate in the United States would be a whopping 11.2 percent. How so? Well take August 2012; 380,000 dropped off the unemployment role because they just stopped looking, which allowed the unemployment rate to go down .2%, although factually those people still did not have a job.
“In July, 142,220,000 Americans were working. In August, only 142,101,000 Americans were working. So the number of Americans working fell by 119,000 and yet the government would have us believe that the unemployment rate actually declined from 8.3 percent to 8.1 percent.”
“employment-population ratio. It is a measure of the percentage of working age Americans that actually have jobs. I like to call it “the employment rate”. So what happened to the “employment rate” in August? It fell slightly to 58.3 percent. It is lower than it was when the last recession supposedly ended, and it is almost as low as it has been at any point since the very beginning of this crisis. A few times during this economic downturn it has actually hit 58.2 percent.”
      2. You say, “short term unemployment is actually down”
My reply – of course short term unemployment is down, why do you suppose that is? Because long term UNEMPLOYMENT is the highest it has been since the 1930s.
      3. You say, “why you mentioned long term is a mystery to me because it has nothing to do with what we were talking about”
My reply – Why the heck is long term employment irrelevant? Long term employment means people are working longer, less on unemployment + welfare and more tax revenue generated, therefore on what planet is long term unemployment irrelevant?
      4. You say, “which even further shows that those people are being rehired”
My reply – What? Short term unemployment is down which means those people are being rehired? Hmmmm….since we just came out of a summer month, ergo Seasonally adjusted is about to pop, your statement is factually incorrect. For the summer jobs are ended and the fact that the BLS stops reporting on those who quite looking for work, who no longer qualify for benefits or cannot register for benefits because their job gave them a severance package, etc….. all of those people are no longer counted in the unemployed total.
      5. You say, “my guess is that those numbers are probably teachers who are fired and rehired every fall by their same school system to keep them from gaining tenor.
My reply- Seriously? Now you are guessing here at who is hired and fired so as to fit your political agenda? WOW, seriously just WOW! And it is TENURE, tenor is music/tone related.
      6. You say, “You seem to not like Obama(obviously) but you spin numbers instead of laying them out as they truly are.”
My reply – those numbers come straight from the BLS… no sugar coating it. Whether I like Obama or not, 1.4+ million people lost their jobs in the month of September thus far. My post is not about how long they are unemployed or under employed nor is my post about who was hired or not; my post is about how many jobs have been SHED…….
      7. You say, “im not talking about your jobs lost number when i mention college students, im talking about your fraudulent 88 million number. “
My reply – When you look at that graph, what does the caption at the bottom say? Source: BLS, 1 September 2012, correct? That means the numbers devised for that graph came straight from Obama’s department of labor. Maybe you need to get someone to explain the numbers to you?
Factually there are over 23.7 MILLION unemployed or under employed; there are over 13. MILLION that retired early (means they could still be working and generating more tax revenue but because of the craptastic economy they took early retirement). There are also millions more who graduated college and cannot get a job. They cannot be counted as unemployed as they were not laid off from a job, they just cannot get one upon graduation.
      .
      8. You say, “for some reason, you seem to be assuming that every high school kid over 16 and every college student is looking for a job and that every person who has retired in that 88 million did so early because they could not find work. that is an asinine argument and you know it”
My reply – No, rather you wish to dismiss them from the overall unemployment numbers. Fact is, the BLS only counts those who had a job and no longer have one. Obama cannot tout 4 million jobs added when BLS shows a net job gain of only 300,000; of which, several MILLION were part time jobs for teenagers during the summer. If one counts those jobs as a positive, then so too they must be counted when they are shed.
      9. You say, “again, I know you hate the man but be sensible”
My reply – I would never dare expense that much energy on Barack Obama. You give him too much credit for being that important in my life. Sad!
      10. You say, “last thing, i dont know how i got subscribed to you, but since I have, you have not posted a single article telling how Mitt Romney will do anything better.”
My reply- then clearly you have failed to go through all my postings, but I digress as I am sure you are one of those who also throws around the race card because, well you know Obama is the what 5th or 6th HALF BLACK President we have had in American History?
      11. You say, “I think you are what democrats and republicans have been talking about the last few weeks when they say Mitt has not shown how he will do better than Obama”
My reply – Let me break down some facts for ya, and it is called EXPERIENCE and factual proven successful track record –v- voting for someone solely based on skin color because Obama had ZERO experience nor qualifications to be president and his policies have proven it!
      a. 90% factually proven success rate at Bain for turning ALREADY failing companies around and starting new companies

      b. Was asked to come in and save the Utah Olympics as it was $300 million in the red; he turned the Olympics around, made it profitable, donated $1 million of his own money AND he refused to take the $400,000 salary that went with the job. Instead, he donated it to charity

      c. Was begged to come to Mass. and run for governor; he factually worked with an 97% DEMOCRAT state legislature, which means he has a PROVEN track record of working across the aisle; the state was factually $3 billion in debt, when he left they had a $2 BILLION rainy day fund; when he took office Mass. ranked 50th in unemployment, when he left office Mass. ranked 28th with a less than 5% unemployment rate—-and, he refused to take the governorships salary, instead he opted to be paid $1 per year while he was governor.

You see – one would vote for the person with a proven track record, not someone who speak cool and is half black. Obama has proven what happens when you give someone a job who has NO EXPERIENCE and NO QUALIFICATIONS to obtain said job.

      1. He has had $1 TRILLION + annual budgets;
      2. unemployment has been above 8% for 46 weeks despite all the spending he has done
      3. 23.7 MILLION unemployed or under employed under Obama
      4. 13 million retired early under Obama
      5. CBO came out last month and said 6 MILLION people will see their taxes increased, the vast majority will be the MIDDLE CLASS
      6. Middle Class income has DROPPED $5,000 under Obama
      7. Manufacturing report came out the other day – 13.2% drop, the worst drop since Jan 2009
      8. Our global ranking under Obama went from 1st, to 5th and just revised down again to 7th
      9. The dollar has depreciated AGAIN under Obama
      10. Credit rating downgraded AGAIN under Obama
      11. Obama lied about ending the war in Iraq; he did not end the war, the war was ended with the Treaty Bush signed late 2008 with Iraq to have all US presence out by December 31, 2011. To add insult to Obama’s LIE, he even tried to get Iraq to let the US stay longer – they of course said no.
      12. First US Ambassador killed in the line of duty since Democrat Jimmy Carter in 1979
      13. 6 US Embassies attacked in less than 2 yrs under Obama
      14. Syria “sanctions” not working
      15. Little talks with Iran not working nor are the “sanctions” as according to the defense department, they have developed their nuclear crap 5 times faster under Obama
