It’s the Post Office that’s always having problems” proclaimed Barack Obama as he was trying to use the failure of the US Post Office to prove that private competition is still viable even if the government jumps into the game. Comparing Government Run Health Care to the Failure of the US Post Office Was….Well, Stupid! Or shall we say that Obama spoke stupidly when he made this remark?
As long as they have a good product and the government plan has to sustain itself through premiums and other non-tax revenue, private insurers should be able to compete with the government plan, Obama said. “They do it all the time,” he said. “UPS and FedEx are doing just fine. … It’s the Post Office that’s always having problems.”
